« BackPublishing House “Versus aureus”
“Versus aureus” publishing house has been established in 2003. It started with 20 titles per year. The following year witnessed a rapid growth up to 60 hardcover and paperback titles per year. In the beginning of 2005 the company has finally entered the medium sector of the publishing industry in Lithuania. However, that is not the ultimate goal of publishing house. By 2009, the company is planning to top this sector.
“Versus aureus” aim is to publish books that would benefit the reader and the society. Original academic and educational literature accounts for about 60 % of all titles published in the company. Well-known and established researchers, scientists, educators, analysts of political, economic, cultural and social matters, philosophers, politicians and other front-runners in their fields are being published alongside the promising new generation of Lithuanian academic writers.
Fiction, both original and translated, accounts for the remaining 40%. Books by Lithuanian poets, novelists and essayists are extremely valuable to the company as they enable it to present literary tradition and heritage to the Lithuanian and foreign readers. With the foreign fiction, translated by true professionals, we aspire to broaden our readers’ perception of the surrounding world. We present the best literary works from Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Germany, Japan, Sweden and other countries.
