Historian Adomas Butrimas was born in 1955. He graduated from the History faculty at Vilnius University with an archeologist specialty. In 1986, he began to work at the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts. In 1991, he became the vice-rector for science and art and in 2004; he became the rector of the Vilnius Academy of fine Arts.
His areas of scientific research – the history of art, archeology, prehistoric fine arts and the history of Lithuania.
A. Butrimas has compiled more than twenty publications. He is a member of various international associations, institutes and expert commissions.
