Aistė Vilkaitė
Aistė Vilkaitė was born in Panevėžys on July 1, 1988. In 2007, she graduated from Vytauto Žemkalnio gymnasium in Panevėžys.
A. Vilkaitė started to write when she was 14. For the most part it was experiments in poetry. In 2004, Aistė Vilkaitė’s poems earned her the title of Panevėžys’ Literary Winter laureate. In 2007, with the novel Nojus ir Ema (Nojus and Ema), Aistė Vilkaitė won first prize in the Republican Young Philologists Contest. Her poems were published in the school newspaper “Svirtis” and on the Internet site: www.rasyk.lt.
The writer can’t unambiguously define the objects of her creation – it’s simply people. Her creative themes also vary. Certain images, movies, books, songs and paintings inspire Aistė Vilkaitė as well.
In the autumn of 2007, the publishing house “Versus aureus” published Aistės Vilkaitė’s debut novel Nojus ir Ema (Nojus and Ema). This was the first prose work that Aistė Vilkaitė resolved to show not only to a few personal friends, but to a wider circle of people.
