Alexander Giese
Writer Alexander Giese was born in 1921, in Vienna.
From 1967 to 1983, A. Giese worked as a program editor, novelist, lyrist, the scenarist of films and radio plays at Austrian television and radio (ORF). From 1990 to 1997, he was a president of the Austrian PEN centre in Vienna. From 1975 to 1986, he was the Grandmaster of the Grand Lodge of Austria.
His most famous novels are “Wie ein fremder in Vaterland”, ”Wie Schnee in der Wuste”, “Geduldet Euch Bruder”, and “Lerida oder der Lange Schatten”.
In 2006, the publishing house, “Versus aureus”, published the A. Giese book Laisvieji mūrininkai (The Free masons) about an association of free men of good reputation who aim to teach adult men humanism and tolerance. The book was translated from German and commentaries given by Vytautas Plečkaitis.
