Angela Sommer-Bodenburg
Writer and painter Angela Sommer-Bodenburg was born on December 18, 1984, in Germany, near Hamburg.
In 1972, she graduated from Hamburg University, majoring in pedagogy, psychology and sociology. For twelve years she taught at a secondary school. She started writing in 1984.
Angela Sommer-Bodenburg has published more then forty books, which include poetry; picture books; novels; and the 18 volume book series, Mažasis Vampyras (The Little Vampire). The author’s books have been translated into more than thirty languages; they have been adapted to theatre, radio, cinema, and television. The film version of the Little Vampire was released in 2000 and was awarded "the Best German Children’s Picture of 2001" and won the "German Golden Film Prize”. In 1992, the author moved to the USA.
