Daiva Valančienė
Teacher and English language expert Daiva Valančienė was born on February 26, 1960, in Vilnius.
In 1983, she earned a Master’s degree in the English language from Vilnius University. Since 1990 she has been teaching English language at Elektrėnai Versmė gymnasium. Since 1998, D. Valančienė has been the coordinator of Lithuanian Centre of International Education and Resource Network (LEARN). Since 2002, she has been an independent expert and a member of the expert commission of the European Union program “The European certificate for evaluation of innovatory, high quality language teaching and learning projects”, a consultant for the English language training content, and an organizer of the Republic’s Olympiads of English language and a member of the Oxford drama contest commission.
D. Valančienė presents papers about ongoing Internet projects in countries and at international conferences in Japan, Puerto Rico, USA, Slovenia, Denmark, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Estonia, and Latvia. In 1999 and 2003 worked on probation in Slovenia and in 2002 and 2005, the USA, at the Constitutional Rights Foundation.
In 2001, she published a methodical publication, Telekomunikacijų ir projektinio darbo organizavimo metodas (The method of the organization of telecommunications and designed work, with coauthor Rima Tarbūnienė) and in 2005 – a textbook of English language for ninth to twelfth grades on the theme of democracy, “Lessons on American Democracy” (publishing house “Versus aureus”).
