Dalija Tekorienė
Linguist, professor and Doctor Habilis Dalija Tekorienė was born on March 16, 1937, in Šiauliai. She studied at Vilnius University and she has worked there since 1959. (In 1992, she became a professor). In 1967, she defended the thesis on Dabartinės anglų kalbos prieveiksmio ir būdvardžio junginiai (The combinations of adverb and adjective in contemporary English language). In 1990, she published in English the Lithuanian language textbook, defended her theses of Doctor Habilis on Lietuvių kalbos bevardės giminės būdvardžiai (Lithuanian’s neutral adjectives) and published the monograph Bevardės giminės būdvardžiai: sintaksė ir semantika (The neutral adjectives: syntax and semantics). In 1992, she lectured on Lithuanian language at Stockholm University. From 1994 to 1995, she was a Fulbright’s fellow at Kent State University (USA).
She is the specialist of grammar, lexicology, lexicography, lexical semantics, comparative linguistics and English language translation. She has published articles on semantic questions and has written several textbooks on the English language, and one Lithuanian language textbook for foreigners. She is the co-author of several large dictionaries and grammar books of English and Lithuanian languages.
In 2004, the publishing house “Versus aureus” published the Dalija Tekorienė and S. Lapinskas’ language workbook, Litauische Konversationsgrammatik.
