Egidijus Aleksandravičius
Historian, researcher of culture and publicist Egidijus Aleksandravičius is a professor at Vytautas Magnum University and the director of the Lithuanian Emigration Institute. He also worked and studied at Vilnius University, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of Illinois. For a decade, he worked at the Lithuanian Institute of History where he defended his thesis for a Doctorate and Doctor Habilis. He is the author of ten books and several hundreds articles.
Besides his academic work, his restless nature constantly led to civic activity. From 1993 to 2002, E. Aleksandravičius was a board member of the Open Society Fund-Lithuania and for the last few years – chairman of the board. He is also a member of the Lithuanian Journalist Union’s board, and a founder and a member of many cultural organizations and funds.
In 2004 the publishing house “Versus aureus” published E. Aleksandravičius work, Kas iškirto varnui akį? (Who cut out the eye of the raven?). It is an essay of political critics that reveal the constant striving to burst out of the academic citadel and start caring about public matters.
