Federico Andahazi
Argentine writer Federico Andahasi was born in 1963, in Buenos Aires.
F. Andahasi studied psychology at La Plata University. In 1995, with his stories Las Piadosas (Godly women) and Por encargo, F. Andahasi won the national writers’ contest from the Institute of Saint Thomas Aquinas. In 1996, for his book La trilliza, he won first prize in Buenos Aires’ Joven II writer’s contest. In the same year, on the decision of the jury for the prestigious Fortabat fund, the writer’s new novel “the Anatomist” won the best Argentine novel. A scandal erupted when the sponsor of the fund tried to withdraw the commission’s decision by proclaiming, “the book does not contribute to the exaltation of the spiritual values” and named Andahasi “a spreader of communist pornography”.
The Prince, published in 2000, known for its magical realism, is compared to the works of Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Carlos Fuentes.
In 2005, the publishing house “Versus aureus” published the F. Andahasi novel, Anatomas (The Anatomist). The book was translated from Spanish by Vaida Alytaitė.
