Irena Buckley is a modern-day docent in the Department of Lithuanian Literature at Vytautas Magnum University.

Her scientific research interests: Lithuanian literature of the XIX century, rhetoric, theory of discourse, and the relations between literature, myth and folklore. Irena Buckley analyses the history of Lithuanian literature in the context of Lithuanian culture and links it to the European tradition.

In 2006, the publishing house “Versus aureus” published the monograph of Irena Buckley that analyses historic and cultural texts of XIX century. Retorikos tradicija XIX amžiaus lietuvių literatūroje (The tradition of rhetoric in Lithuanian literature in the XIX century).
