Joanne Harris
British writer Joanne Harris was born on July 3, 1964, to a French mother and an English father. Her family life was closely related to the tradition of food and folklore that later and clearly reflected in her novels. She studied modern and mediaeval languages at St Catharine’s College. For fifteen years she was a teacher. Her first novel “The Evil Seed” was published in 1989. Her novel “Chocolate”, published ten years later, instantly became a bestseller. The Miramax Pictures film with Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp made her famous all over the world. Since then, she has written five more novels, a collection of short stories and with cookery writer Fran Warde, two cookbooks. Her books are now published in over 40 countries and have won a number of British and international awards.
