Judith Kuckart, born 1959 in Schwelm (Westphalia), has lived since her studies of literature and the dramatic arts as well as dance training as an author and director in Zurich and Berlin.

Aside from plays, she has published the novels Wahl der Waffen (1990), Die schöne Frau (1994) and, at DuMont Literatur und Kunst Verlag, the novel Lenas Liebe (2002), the anthology Die Autorenwitwe (2003), the new edition of her novel Der Bibliothekar (2004) as well as the novel Kaiserstraße (2006). Among other prizes, Judith Kuckart has received the Rauriser Literaturpreis, the Villa Massimo stipend and the Deutsche Kritikerpreis.
