Marcin Świetlicki
Marcin Swietlicki (born in 1961) – is one of the most prominent Polish poets of his generation. Swietlicki debuted in 1992 and at immediately was acknowledged to be one of two most prominent (together with Jacek Podsiadlo) representatives of the “Brulion” generation.
In 1993, M. Swietlicki founded a musical rock band where he sang and wrote lyrics. He is a laureate of many awards (Georg Trakl, Koshchelski, the Grand Prix from the magazine “Brulion” and several times was nominated for Nike prize).
In his works, the poet takes the position of the outsider and rebels against the “official” culture, though he is considered to be a critic of manners who ironically and passionately revises facade culture and belief. Swietlicki can be called a cultish poet – readers are waiting for his books and the youth accept his positions as theirs. He has published more than ten books of poetry.
M. Swietlicki currently lives and works in Krakow.
