Nortautas Statkus is a Doctor of social sciences (2001, Vilnius University). He received his Master’s degree from London University (1997). Since 1998, he has worked as a research fellow in the Institute of International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University and from 2004 – as a docent.

His scholarly interests: geopolitics, the foreign politics of the USA, and the NATO transformation process. Other areas of interest: the studies of nationalism and ethnicity, and bio-politics.

In 2004, the publishing house “Versus aureus” published the study of Dr N. Statkus’ Tapatybės politika etniniams konfliktams reguliuoti (The politics of identity for the regulation of ethnic conflicts).
