Saulius Lapinskas
Germanic philologist Saulius Lapinskas was born on July 14, 1954.
In 1972, he entered Vilnius University to study German language and literature and from 1976 to 1977, he studied at the GDR University of Greifswald. In 1977, he graduated cum laude from Vilnius University and since then he has worked at Vilnius University as a lecturer in the Department of German philology and later as a senior lecturer. Since 1986, he has worked as a docent. From 1981 to 1984, he studied at graduate courses at the GDR Leipzig University and defended his thesis for a Doctorate of Philosophy (supervisor Prof. Dr h. c. G. Helbig).
His scholarly interests: theoretic grammar of the German language, phraseology, the history of German linguistics, the history, geography and culture of German speaking countries, Germanic mythology, lexicology, lexicography/phraseography.
S. Lapinskas translates scientific (historic-archaeological), fiction and educational literature from German and English languages to Lithuanian, and from Lithuanian to German.
In 2004, the publishing house “Versus aureus” published a resource for learning, prepared by professor D. Tekorienė and S. Lapinskas, Litauische Konversationsgrammatik.
