Saulius Pivoras
Historian Saulius Pivoras was born on December 1, 1968, in the Molėtai region.
In 1987, he graduated from Molėtai’s secondary school No.2. In 1992, he graduated from the History faculty at Vilnius University. In 1997, he defended his thesis for a Doctor of Humanitarian Sciences’ degree (History). Since 1997, he has been working at Vytautas Magnum University. Since 2000, he has been a docent and the manager of the Department of Public Administration in the Institute of Political Science and Diplomacy at Vytautas Magnum University. In 1997, S. Pivoras worked on probation at Stockholm University and in 1998, he was a Kungliga Skytteanska Samfundet visiting researcher at Umea University.
He is the author of three books and forty scientific articles in the Lithuanian scientific press, Poland, Germany and Sweden. S. Pivoras has lectured at Vilnius and Klaipėda Universities. From 1994 to 2004, he cooperated in the Lithuanian liberal emigration monthly Akiračiai.
Scholarly interests include history and political science. He also has been researching the problems of civil self-consciousness, culture and history, Lithuanian-Swedish relations in the interwar system of international relations, political representation and civil service.
In 2003, the publishing house “Versus aureus” published the textbook for the 12th grade, prepared by S. Pivoras, Modernaus pasaulio istorija – XIX-XX a) (The history of the modern world – XIX-XX c.)
