Sigitas Krivickas
Sigitas Krivickas was born on July 29, 1938, in Marijampolė.
In 1961, he graduated from the History-philology faculty at Vilnius University and earned a Journalist degree. From 1960 to 1966, he was the head of the creative section and consultant for the Journalist’s Association. From 1967 to 1969, he was the executive secretary of the weekly Kalba Vilnius (Vilnius Talks). From 1969 to 1971, S. Krivickas was a senior lecturer in the Department of Journalism at Vilnius University. From 1971 to 1979, he was the executive secretary of the journal Nemunas, the editor in chief of the publication Buitis (Everyday) and the vice chairman of the association Tėviškė (Homeland). From 1979 to 1984, he worked as a correspondent for the newspapers “Moscow News” and Tiesa (Truth). He moved to the USA and from 1984 to 1994, he was the editor in chief of the publishing house Mintis (Idea) and an associate editor of the weekly Literatūra ir menas (Literature and Art). He is one of the founders of the Lithuanian Associations of Photographic Art and a member of the steering committee. Since 1970, he has been a member of The Union of the Lithuanian Art Photographers.
In 2004, the publishing house “Versus aureus” published the book, prepared by S. Krivickas and E. Gentvilas, Politiko duona: politiko ir literato dialogas (The politician’s bread: the dialog between politics and literature).
