„The Queen of the Adders“ 

The Queen of the adders is an innovative work in which mythical motives; a woman’s spiritual reality and absence, a crumbling materiality of being and elated romance – crumbs of psychoanalysis and folklore intonations intertwine. Invoking the plot and images from the famous tale, Eglė žalčių karalienė (Eglė – the queen of the adders), the author looks at the feminine being from another angle.

The mini novel, The Queen of the adders starts a new Debiutai (Debuts) series. The prose leans on the timeless structure of myth and the depth of meaning. Choosing an original structure for the work, the book depicts how a young girl finds the 19th century diaries of the Queen of the adders and restores history – prior to the catastrophic and horrifying experiences. The picture of Žilvinas and through the painful experiences of Eglė, the drastic end both intrigues and shocks.
