Time is the one factor we inevitably meet each day; though we don’t know how to stop it, during the millenniums we learned to count it. Today, we tell time with mechanical and electronic watches; however, it wasn’t so long ago when we unconditionally trusted the greatest power of nature – the sun. The ancient civilisations of Egypt and China created the first sundials, but they were also in Lithuania.

In his book, Libertas Klimka presents the development of sundials, their influence on culture and spread of scientific knowledge. He also included methods on how to make the sundial by yourself.
