Alexander Giese is an Austrian television and radio (ORF) program editor, novelist, lyrist, the screenwriter of films and radio plays, and from 1975 to 1986, the Grandmaster of the Grand Lodge of Austria. In his book Free Masons he explains that Masonry is not a religion, church, party, table company or a gathering of conspirators, instead, Free Masonry unites approximately 50 thousand lodges all over the world. According to the author, Free Masonry is an association of free men of good reputation who have the aim to teach adult men humanism and tolerance. The author prompts reader to forget all prejudices and to listen to his personal 11-year experience of belonging to the Grand Lodge of Austria.
The book is translated from German language and the commentaries are given by Vytautas Plečkaitis.
