Daiva Dapkutė is a historian, a lecturer of Department of History at Vytautas Magnum University and a research fellow of Centre for Lithuanian Diaspora Studies. In 2001, she defended her Doctoral thesis for a Doctorate in Humanitarian Sciences (History) at Vytautas Magnum University. Since 1996, she has worked in the Centre for Lithuanian Diaspora Studies at Vytautas Magnum University.
Her scientific research areas: ideological and political development of Lithuanian emigration, the history of emigration’s liberal stream and emigration connections with Lithuania. On these themes she has published articles in the publications Darbai ir dienos (Works and days), Politologija (Political Science), Istorija (History), Akiračiai (Views), and in other press. She also published the book Lietuvių išeivijos liberaliosios srovės genezė (The genesis of Lithuanian emigration’s liberal stream, 2002). She participated in composing the book Antano Smetonos korespondencija 1940-1944 (The correspondence of Antanas Smetona 1940-1944, 1999) and Tarp kairės ir dešinės, tarp Amerikos ir Lietuvos (Between left and right, between America and Lithuania, 2004).
