Jonas Liniauskas was born on February 12, 1955, in Pabradė. He studied at Vilnius University and worked in the editorial offices of Komjaunimo tiesa (Com-youths’ truth), Literatūra ir menas (Literature and art) as well as others. Currently, he is the chairman of Lithuanian Writer’s Union.

Jonas Liniuaskas is a poet and author of the texts of songs and librettos. He writes for both adults and children.

His published books of poetry: Lietaus kelionė (The Rain’s Journey, 1982), Alyvos prieš vėją (Lilacs in front of the wind, 1986), Vandenų abėcėlė (The water’s alphabet, 1993, 2003), Vyrai ir klavyrai (Men and claviers, 1998), Oranžinis čiulptukas (An Orange nipple, 2002), and Maža tamsa (The small darkness, 2004) and others.

The publishing house “Versus aureus” published the poet’s book of quatrains, Žolės instinktas (The Grass’ Instinct). It is a poetical story about the lyrical character moods, epochal winds, love and experience.
