A Doctor of humanitarian sciences, docent Nijolė Strakauskaitė works for the Institute of History and Archaeology of the Baltic region at Klaipėda University.

Her sphere of scientific research: historical problems of East Prussia and Lithuania Minor. Two books of Dr. N. Strakauskaitė have been published, Kuršių nerija: senasis Europos pašto kelias (The Curonian Spit: The Old European Postal Road – “Versus aureus” published in English) and Klaipėda, Kuršių nerija, Karaliaučius (Klaipėda, the Curonian Spit, and Königsberg, 2005).

The author has also written dozens of articles.
