The senior research fellow Regina Merkienė (Tamošiūnaitė) was born on January 14, 1937, in Kaunas. From 1960, she worked at the Lithuanian Institute of History until retirement in 2002. Since 1991, she has lectured in the Department of Ethnology and Folklore in the faculty of Humanitarian Sciences at Kaunas Vytautas Magnus University (since 1995, she has been a Professor).
