Vytas Lukšys

Vytas Lukšys was born on August 7, 1959, in Varėna region.

In 1977, he graduated from the Varėna region’s Nedzingė secondary school. From 1982 to 1987, he studied in the History faculty at Vilnius University. After graduating, he earned a History degree. In 2003, after graduating from the Lithuanian Law University’s faculty of State Management, Vytas Lukšys was granted a Master’s qualification degree in law. Due to his participation in the Afghan war (from 1979 to 1981) and as a natural activist, he has always been involved in social activities.

V. Lukšys is the chairman of The Union of Afghanistan War Veterans of Vilnius, the vice-chairman of the Lithuanian Organization of Afghanistan War Veterans. The compiler of the photo album Užmirštas karas (The Unremembered war), and Sovietų kariuomenės invazija į Afganistaną, (The Soviet Army’s invasion of Afghanistan), the author of the book Sustingęs laikas (žuvusiems 1979-1989 metų Afganistano kare atminti) (Frozen time: in the commemoration of gone in the war of Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989) – published in 2005 by “Versus aureus”.
